Caring for the Local Environment

What’s Inside This Lesson

The lesson guides students to investigate how their local environment has changed due to human activity and natural processes. Students then identify specific environmental issues and propose practical, sustainable solutions to care for their local environment.


Lesson Outcomes

  • ACARA Version 9.0

    Students will:

    • Understand how their local environment has changed over time due to human activity and natural processes (AC9HS3K01)
    • Identify specific environmental issues (e.g., litter, water quality) within their local area (AC9HS3K01, AC9HS4K06, AC9HS5K04)
    • Propose practical ways to care for their local environment, linking to sustainability (AC9HS3K04, AC9HS4K08)

     

    Students can:

    • Describe at least one way their local environment has changed (AC9HS3K01), AC9HS3K05)
    • Identify and describe a local environmental issue (AC9HS3K01, AC9HS5K05, AC9HS5K07)
    • Create a component of a campaign or plan to promote environmental care (AC9HS3K01, AC9HS4K06, AC9HS4K08, AC9HS5K07)
