This lesson explores the deep importance of Country/Place to local First Nations Peoples, fostering understanding of their history, culture, and ongoing connection to the land.


Lesson Outcomes

  • ACARA Version 9.0

    Students will:

    • Understand the importance of Country/Place to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in their local area (AC9HS3K03, AC9HS4K01, AC9HS5K04)
    • Understand the importance of Country/Place to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in their local area (AC9HS3K04, AC9HS4K04)

     

    Students can:

    • Give examples of the connection between local First Nations Peoples and the land (AC9HS3K03, AC9HS4K01, AC9HS5K04)
    • Create a representation (map, story, artwork) of a significant aspect of their local Country/Place (AC9HS3K04, AC9HS4K04)
  • Victorian Curriculum Version 2.0

    Students will:

    • Understand the importance of Country/Place to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in their local area (VCHHK072, VCHHK078, VCHHK094)
    • Research and identify the traditional custodians and significant features of their local Country/Place (VCHHK072, VCHHK078)

     

    Students can:

    • Give examples of the connection between local First Nations Peoples and the land (VCHHK072, VCHHK078, VCHHK094)
    • Create a representation (map, story, artwork) of a significant aspect of their local Country/Place (VCHHC071, VCHHC087)
  • NSW Curriculum

    Students will:

    • Understand the importance of Country/Place to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in their local area (GE2-2, HT2-1, HT2-2)
