This lesson plan guides students to investigate environmental issues in their school, fostering an understanding of sustainability and empowering them to propose practical solutions.


Lesson Outcomes

  • ACARA Version 9.0

    Students will:

    • Understand common environmental issues (e.g., waste, energy use, water consumption) within their school or local area (AC9HS3K01, AC9HS3K05)
    • Investigate current sustainable practices and identify areas for improvement (AC9HS3K01, AC9HS4K06, AC9HS5K04)
    • Propose practical solutions to promote sustainability within their school community (AC9HS3K04, AC9HS4K08)

     

    Students can:

    • Identify at least two environmental issues present in the school (AC9HS3K01, AC9HS3K05)
    • Contribute to a plan for a sustainable initiative (e.g., waste audit, garden design, awareness campaign) AC9HS3K01, AC9HS5K05, (AC9HS5K07)
    • Communicate their sustainable solutions to an audience (AC9HS4K06, AC9HS4K08)
  • Victorian Curriculum Version 2.0

    Students will:
